Our Story
Named for the state they call the food basket of the nation
Founders Josette and David Boyo named their restaurant after Benue, a Nigerian state known as the food basket of the nation, where the land is rich for growing some of the best produce in the country.
They brought that taste to Davenport Village, a neighbourhood with little to no African cuisine. You won't find fusion here — The Benue serves the heart of traditional dishes with a modern twist.
Most of the small kitchen crew were born and raised in Nigeria, cooking the dishes they grew up on. Everyone else is trained the traditional way, using spices and dried fish shipped from Nigeria. Even in takeout containers, every meal is plated as if you were dining in.
